Description - Diversity Reference Collection - Sorghum

Back

Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] has an immense range of genetic variability available in Africa where domestication first occurred. A reference set of 375 accessions has been defined which captures 78% of the diversity contained in the composite germplasm collection. The reference set represents a critical resource for plant scientists to study new adaptive traits, discover new favorable alleles and also new parental lines for pre-breeding crosses.
